Why use Body Calibre?

Regardless of your age, gender, weight, fitness level, body composition analysis can support anyone looking to get an accurate and non-judgemental baseline for monitoring your health. Or it can be used as a powerful tool to integrate into your training and nutrition plan.

Just monitoring your weight is not an accurate way of tracking your progressive changes in your health and fitness. Standing on a set of scales does not correctly identify the effect of any exercise that you may do, and the good or bad food choices that you make.

You can have two people who weigh the same, have the same BMI, are the same height, age and gender but have completely different body compositions.

If you exercise, and eat a healthy diet, but are not seeing any change on your scales, this can be very demotivating, and is giving you false indicators.

This is where our body composition analysis will provide you with the data and tools that you need to firstly identify what you’re made of. Secondly, through our personal consultations, give you the information and impartial friendly advice to stay motivated to successfully enable you to reach your health or fitness goals.

Together with your Body Calibre Professional:

FAQ's

Our InBody machine is the market leading, medical grade, body composition tool that does NOT require the use of harmful X-Rays as used on a DEXA device. Instead, it uses a technology called Direct Segmental Multi-Frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (DSM-BIA) to independently measure each of your legs, your trunk and each of your arms. It does this by passing very low electrical currents through its eight contact points and measures the impedance (or resistance) of the currents as they pass through your body. This technology is 98.4% accurate when compared to a DEXA, and no other body composition analysis device is as accurate as our InBody.
Absolutely not.

This is one of our main frustrations. Body composition analysis is normally undertaken by professional athletes, fitness advocates or members of luxury gyms, and these are all perfectly legitimate to track details such as training plans, and nutrition. We even track our own composition exactly for these reasons. However, we think there is a real need for more people to be empowered by knowing what they’re made of! You don’t need to be anything other than open to the possibility that taking a scan could be your first step on a journey to positive mental and physical health.
This is actually one of the best times to have a scan! If you have made the decision that you are going to lifestyle and habits, having a baseline scan means you will really be able to track your progress. This will provide you with a positive mindset about how to move forwards, and provides motivation because normal weight measurement using a set of scales does not tell you the whole picture. In fact, using normal scales can actually be hugely de-motivating. If you’re eating better, and exercising more you may not see your overall weight change. This could cause you to question “What is the point of me trying to lose weight?”. However, using our body composition analysis would identify you are losing fat, and gaining muscle which is why your overall weight may not be changing.
The only bare skin you need is your feet and hands, that’s it. The rest of your clothing you can keep on. For the best results you should wear relatively lightweight clothes if possible, but this is in no way essential.
You do not feel the gentle electrical currents that pass through your body at all. You won’t even know the scan is taking place. Our InBody device does NOT use any radiation (X-Ray) like some other machines do to measure body composition, so it is completely safe.
As with most things, it depends. We like to talk to you to find out what your particular aims are, but as a very general guide, if you are training, or have a specific health target or issue we would suggest one scan a month. If your goals are a gradual improvement in your health, perhaps consider a scan every three months. For more strategic high level tracking of your overall health markers, having a scan every six months would likely suit. We have a range of very cost effective subscription plans that may interest you, please talk to us about them.
Unfortunately, due to the technology used for our analysis, we will not be able to scan you if you have a pacemaker fitted.
